"The objective of the attackers in this map is to carry their flag to the enemy headquarters. Dustbowl is played in three stages, the goal of the offence in each stage is to take the flag to the enemy command point to capture that area of the map. Once that is completed, all players will respawn and play in the next stage. If the offence captures all three command points, they win and the map changes. If the defence can hold them off for 25 minutes they win."
One of my favourite maps, Dustbowl went where no other map had gone before. There are many locations and bunkers for sentry guns and snipers making this a hard game if defence is good.

When you eventually fight your way to command point 2, get a friend to crouch under the "Capture Point" sign. Now you can throw pipes and grenades over to the red defence on the other side. Last time I tried this it took three people on each others heads on the
sign before we could get anything over, so it can be a bit tricky. |
At command point 1 you can get up here using the usual methods for a good surprise attack. At command point 3 you can jump onto a hidden ledge on the far side of the map, good for a sniping position. |
You will have to be waiting with your finger on the set-detpack key for this to work. Just as the attackers cap a command point drop the detpack for 10 seconds now as the attackers respawn at their new base they will be blown to bits. Most people have wised up to this now and you will probably only kill the newbies. |
